They were starved, beaten, and killed, and even raped! Nazi's would send them to the "showers" that were gas chambers and they were killed.
Adolf Hitler was an Austrian-born German politician who became the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party, more popularly known as the Nazi Party in 1921. They were extremists with very radical views. They believed in the "superior race" - the Aryans, the ones who were the most pure and the most perfect humans above all others.
By declaring the need to seize more Lebensraum ("living space") for Germany, he began World War II in 1939 when he marched into Poland. He continued marching into Sweden, Norway, Luxemburg, France, Belgium, Finland, Netherlands, Czecoslovakia, Romania, Austria, Hungary, Lithuania, Lativia, Estonia, Ukraine, Belo-Russia, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Albania, Greece, and Japan. Within three years of the start of the war, Germany and the Axis powers occupied most of Europe and parts of northern Africa, East and Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Ocean. However, the Allies gained the upper hand in 1942 and in 1945, the Allied armies invaded Germany.
During this war, his forces committed many atrocities, all in order to create the Aryan race of his dreams - white people, light colored hair, and blue eyes. In order to create his "supreme race", he eliminated all homosexuals, handicapped, Jews and Gypsies, and everyone without blond hair and blue eyes, bringing the total of innocent civilian deaths to 17 million, included the genocide of six million Jews in a event that has become to be known as the Holocaust. When the Olympics were held in Germany in one of the years he was in power, he tried to show off his Aryans. But to his surprise, an African American by the name of Jessie Owens had won the Running competition. Hitler was so mad he wouldn't even shake his hand.
He married Eva Braun on the 29th of April, 1945. She was his companion and for a short time, his wife. In the end, Hitler chose to kill himself in order to escape his crimes as less than less than forty hours after their marriage, he received reports saying that the Allied forces were closing in on the bunker. He and Eva Braun committed suicide together in the Fuhrerbunker.
There are some stories that suggest that Eva Braun had not wanted to commit suicide with him and that she had been forced by Hitler to bite the cyanide capsule. Other stories suggest that she had tried to attack Hitler on their wedding night in the bunker because she was a spy and assassin for the Allied forces but he caught her and poisoned her with cyanide, killing her, but because he loved her too much and also because the Allied forces were closing in on him, he killed himself, following her into death.
Either way, the couple died together in the bunker at the end - and the German public was never aware of Eva Braun until her body was discovered with Hitler's in the bunker that night.
He took over belguim, which was supposed to be neutral at that time but Hitler broke the treaty and took over anyway
== == It was a Roman Province - Gallia Transalpina. before that, it was a land mass occupied by multiple tribes - a bit like the USA in fact. Think of the Romans as the British and you have the history. Mind you, the British had their hand in the matter; in the medieval period more than half of the territory of France was at one time or another under English rule. It was this, in fact, which with the help of Joan of Arc gave rise to the felling of Frenchness which built the modern nation. So, to sum up: France was: a region occupied sparsely by Celts a tribal free-for-all occupied by the Gauls (500 BC) a Roman province full of Gallo-Romans (55 BC) a devastated area overrun by Goths, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Huns, Vandals and other trash. (400 AD) an area half overrun by the Franks (500 AD) the Kingdom of the Franks (600 AD) Part of the Empire of Charlemagne (800) a small area ruled by the King of France (1000) a large area ruled by the King of France (1450) A larger area, ditto (1700) A larger republic (1792) An even larger Empire (1805) A slightly smaller Kingdom (1815) A Republic again, an Empire again (1848, 1852) Finally, a somewhat smaller Republic (1870) A Republic (1918) and now - France.
the Germans were defeated and the allied forces began to rebuild and help the Jews in death camps that actually survived the terrible mess Hitler put them through
